The college’s mission is to train the very best type of educator: one who understands the nature of learning, values teamwork and collaboration, embraces social and cultural diversity and eagerly anticipates all of the exciting challenges that the education profession brings. All of Ashland’s education programs – undergraduate, master of education, doctor of education and professional development services – are recognized on a state and national basis. Ashland offers more than 30 program areas across the undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, master’s and doctorate levels and employ more than 65 full-time faculty. The undergraduate teacher education program is the largest academic program on the Ashland campus and has been NCATE accredited since 1973. The Ashland University Dwight Schar college of education, which offers Pre-K through doctorate level courses, is one of the largest among independent and state institutions in Ohio.
